Sending the price of crude oil up again too. It's going to be a very strong storm it looks like. Further west it goes the better as far as Florida is concerned. This is reminding me of 2004 again, one after another ruining one weekend after another... [img]graemlins/whatever.gif[/img]

For now, it looks like the people in Louisiana and Texas are the ones with the most to worry about with this one.

I sure hope it doesn't ruin this weekend. Fay caused it to be gray and overcast for a week. It was ugly.

Not necessarily Sean. Andrew was bad, Ivan was bad. Between the 2 current ones, Gustav looks far more potentially stronger. Depends on where they make landfall too as to the amount of "damages" financialy speaking. If someone lives in an area that isn't much developed but his home is destroyed, the damage is going to be labeled as "minimal" (although not to the guy who lost his house it isn't) and likewaise, say a Cat 4 or Cat 5 storm making direct landfall in Tampa Bay would likely be the costliest storm in history. There are $50 million dollar homes in this area and many,many condos and hotels. A direct landfall here would be in the hundreds of billions in losses probably.
